MAT6002   Electron Microscopy Analysis Techniques   (5 credits)

Description

The module covers the principles of electron microscopy in scanning and transmission mode. Both the basic operation of instrumentation and the underlying theoretical principles are introduced. In detail are presented: the interaction of electrons with materials, the scattered signals which can be picked up by various detectors, the preparation of specimens and the interpretation of images.
